Peru is located in central-western South America. It borders the Pacific Ocean to the west, Chile to the south, Bolivia and Brazil to the east, and Colombia and Ecuador to the north. Peru has an area of 1285.215 Km.², sovereignty over the sea 200 miles from the Peruvian coast and is the third largest country in South America. It has a population of 30 million people (Urban: 72.3%, Rural: 27.7%), which consists of a variety of races and cultures due to the Spanish conquest and the later migration of Africans, Asians and Europeans. Peru is divided into 24 departments and Lima is the capital city.
